This month, we were honored by the visit of the Stockton Group, an Israeli company specializing in the development and commercialization of bio-pesticides based on plant extracts, and its leading product Timorex Gold. We were also accompanied by Pasfesa, Nutribysa, and Kayros agro-service owners, agricultural and coffee grower specialists.
Fascinated by the world of coffee, our guest visited the fields of Finca El Cascajal where Timorex Gold had been applied. The plants were well-nourished and the results was more than satisfactory controlling various fungal coffee diseases at the same time. We can classify it as excellent.
Interestingly, in one of the fields where Timorex Gold was applied, we observed a plant that showed three different diseases on its leaves: Rust, Cercospora and Phoma, and all three diseases were controlled by Timorex Gold.
The tour concluded with a delicious lunch, some history about the farm’s mill, introduction to Finca El Cascajal’s sweet water treatment plant, and the historical review of Chortí‘s coffee growing, its origins, its establishment and the future that today seems uncertain.
A special thanks to Ing. Julio Roberto, Lima for his valuable input, who formerly worked in ANACAFE, Mrs. Judy Jamuy – Marketing Manager of Stockton Group in Israel, the representatives of Stockton Guatemala, representatives of the business companies that accompanied us, and our Finca El Cascajal hosts.
“Timorex Gold is definitely a unique tool of its kind for coffee disease control. This biofungicide is the key for sustainable coffee production in the region.”
