Is ideal to control and manage diseases in coffee growing plantations
The Stockton Group (STK), an international company for crop protection products, has assessed, along with technicians and Ecuadorian producers, the effectiveness of its product Timorex Gold to control and manage diseases in national coffee growing plantations. As a result, the company reaffirms its commitment to the country and stimulates a change in the production matrix.
Given the epidemic of coffee leaf rust, the coffee consuming countries have increased their demands for a reduction in toxic waste. With consumers demanding less use of synthetic chemicals in coffee production, Timorex Gold helps coffee growers achieve a sustainable crop, reduce damage caused by rust and meet export requirements.
“The Ecuadorian coffee, due to its geographical location across the country, and its large production capacity, is one of the few countries in the world that exports a great variety of coffee,” explained Jorge Alban, Director General of Stockton Ecuador S.A. “Timorex Gold not only controls pathogens but, as a plant extract, induces the formation of new tissue, strengthens photosynthetic capacity, reduces stress and plant damage often caused by synthetic fungicides. Timorex Gold is definitely ideal to control and manage diseases in coffee growing plantations.”
“The biofungicide Timorex Gold is really something great; it proved itself to be very efficient in controlling rust in coffee compared to synthetic products,” commented Jose Adan, Stockton S.A. Regional Manager for the Caribbean and Central America. “The coffee grower can use it during pre- or post-flowering period, without affecting the setting of the grain. Moreover, Timorex Gold stimulates the growth of new shoots and leaves.” Timorex Gold can be used a few days before harvest with zero waste and immediate return to cultivation. The product can be used alone and mixed with conventional fungicides, providing excellent disease control and reducing the crop’s chemical load.
